Whole Lamb - Raised on Yisrael Farms
At Yisrael Farms, we take pride in raising Dorper/Barbados mix lambs, known for their tender, flavorful meat and exceptional quality. Our lambs are grass-fed and grass finished, thriving on open pastures where they graze naturally at our ranch nestled in the Sierra Nevada foothills.
Our sheep are raised with care, regenerative, sustainable practices. They live healthy, stress-free lives on pasture, with supplement with alfalfa during the times when our pasture rests.
***We do not give our animals antibiotics or growth hormones, they are raised just like in nature.***
Why Grass-Fed and Pasture-Raised?
Grass-fed, pasture-raised lambs produce meat that is not only superior in taste but also richer in nutrients. Compared to conventionally raised lamb, pasture-raised lamb offers:
- Higher Omega-3 fatty acids, which support heart and brain health.
- More vitamins and minerals, including Vitamin E, iron, and zinc.
- Better flavor: A clean, mild taste that reflects the natural, healthy diet of the lamb.
How It Works:
The total cost for a whole lamb is approximately $600, which includes slaughtering and custom butchering into cuts of your choice. Here’s the step-by-step process:
- Place Your Order: This includes our cost for slaughter and raising the sheep.
- Notification: We will contact you when the lamb has been sent to the butcher. We will send you information on how to contact the butcher to specify your cuts of meat.
- Pick Up: Pickup locations are in Elk Grove, CA or Jackson, Ca.
- Final Payment: The remaining balance will be paid directly to the butcher when you pick up ($165 to $175 depending on which butcher you select).
- Processing Timeline: The entire process takes 3 to 5 weeks, depending on the time of year.
Yield and Value:
A whole lamb typically yields 30 to 45 pounds of finished meat, depending on the animal's size. Once you pay, we will forward you the information to select the cuts you like. Here are the usual cuts for a whole lamb.
2 Racks of Lamb
8 Lamb Loin chops (4 pkgs of 2 chops)
4 Leg shanks
2 Leg roasts
2 Shoulder roast
3-4 lbs ground
Cost Per Pound: The final cost is approximately $11 to $15 per pound, depending on the final weight of the animal. This is an incredible value for premium, pasture-raised lamb.
